|Description:||Responsible for providing quality care service to patients in an outpatient setting through financial counseling activities, which includes eligibility and screening for hospital based, local, state, and federal assistance programs, insurance verification and pre-certification. Accurately documenting services provided in the hospital data management system.|
|Duties:||•Demonstrates superior professional behavior in all interactions and utilizes professional telephone etiquette during every call.|
•Performs patient registration, insurance verification and pre-certification activities with a goal of 100% accuracy.
•Obtains referrals as needed.
•Determines patient estimated financial obligation and communicates that information in a timely manner.
•Facilitates the development of payment plan and/or the receipt of patient payments based on the projected cost of care.
•Collects applicable co-pays, deductibles, and other fees for services rendered. Refers patients to available hospital, community, and State assistance programs as applicable.
•Keeps up-to-date on authorization requirements of third party payors, Medicare, Medicaid and communicates information to other areas involved.
•Provide pricing estimates based on obtained insurance data and internal pricing matrix.
•Negotiate with patient to obtain any applicable time of service payments.
|Qualifications:||High School graduate or equivalent|
Some college preferred
Heartsaver CPR required
Two years of clerical experience in healthcare setting preferred
Must be able to type 40 wpm and be familiar with Windows-based programs
Strong knowledge of Medicaid and Managed Care
Excellent verbal communication
Bilingual is a plus
