|Description:||As an employee of UTHSCT, you are responsible for exemplifying UTHSCT’s stated Mission, Vision and Values. You are responsible for providing outstanding customer service and using critical thinking skills, ensuring a smooth, orderly flow of every patient throughout their encounter. You are responsible for providing superior clerical support to the health-care team in all patient care areas by being timely and responsive to their needs and expectations in completing all tasks. You are responsible for functioning as a communications liaison between the unit, other departments, physicians, patients, staff, and visitors. |
|Duties:||Demonstrates superior professional behavior in all interactions, and utilizes professional telephone etiquette during every call.|
Performs admissions, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, check-in, and check-out procedures, collecting and verifying patient demographics with the goal of 100% accuracy. This includes obtaining pre-certifications and referral authorizations.
Educates patients on overall billing process, financial/self pay policy; collects co-pays, co-insurance, and deposits; provides financial counseling for patients, according to UTHSCT policy, documents all collection notes on patient accounts; collects financial documents; assists patients with indigent referrals to DHS and Medical Third Party Resources as necessary.
Keeps up-to-date on billing requirements of third party payors, Medicare, Medicaid and communicates information to other areas involved.
Enters orders for tests, and obtains ABNs when appropriate.
Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
Other duties as assigned.
|Qualifications:||High school graduate or equivalent.|
Heartsaver CPR required
Two years clerical experience in keyboarding and computer skills required. Experience in medical field preferred. However, experience in any customer relations field may be substituted.
