| Description: | To provide advanced technical skills in performing various complex clinical laboratory tests and procedures throughout the laboratory as required for evening shift. Responsible for the performance of laboratory instrument maintenance as perscibed. To perform assigned proficiency testing and other Quality control documentation and reports.
This position requires the ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, trustworthiness, orderliness, accuracy and punctual attendance during stated hours of work.
Evenings, 3-11 p.m. |
| Duties: | Follows all policies and procedures of the laboratory and hospital.
Processes specimens and performs complex analyses in all sections of the laboratory, reporting results in an accurate and timely manner. Collects specimens, processes and performs specimen dispatch duties.
Performs all duties with good organizational skills and multitasking while maintaining accuracy in all areas.
Performs and records appropriate instrument maintenance and acts to identify and correct problems, reporting problems to supervisor.
Maintains adequate reagent inventory for the sections as needed.
Performs and records appropriate quality control, reviewing the data and acting to identify and correct problems, reporting problems to supervisor.
Prints and checks outstanding specimen reports and communicates critical information to next shift.
Instructs new employees as assigned.
Treats all customers to include patients, co-workers, employees from other departments and telephone contacts in a cordial respectful manner at all times. Provides customers with a service that assures they are listened to, understood, cared for, and treated fairly and courteously, intelligently, and individually.
Cooperates with all supervisors, responding in a timely manner, for competency assessment data, human resource requests, documentation of procedural changes and other information as required.
Assists with departmental quality improvement activities.
Disposes of biological/hazardous wastes appropriately and follows all safety procedures including wearing appropriate PPE.

| Qualifications: | MT - Bachelor’s degree in science field and Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent) certification prefer more than 2 years experience as a generalist within a medical laboratory.
MLT - Associate's degree, sixty (60) hours of accredited college, including MLT clinicals, with MLT (ASCP or equivalent) registration and prefer more than 2 years experience as a generalist within a medical laboratory.
